Australian Ang Postecoglou, the new coach of Tottenham Hotspur, considered that striker Harry Kane is “fully committed” to the London club, with speculation growing regarding the future of the England captain.
Kane, 29, whose contract with Tottenham expires in June 2024, is a target for German club Bayern Munich, which is looking for a world-class attacking heart, since the departure of its Polish star Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona last year.
“I had a good conversation with Harry… nothing annoying or decisive,” Postecoglou confirmed before a friendly match between Tottenham and West Ham United in Australia on Tuesday.
He added: “Harry and I are in complete agreement that we want the team to do well this year. He’s here and as long as he’s here, he’s absolutely committed to what we’re doing.”
Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeness confirmed Saturday that Kane had “decided” to join the German champions.
Postecoglou commented on Hoeness’ statement, saying, “No one told me regarding Munich. If other clubs want to talk regarding our contract players, it’s more of a problem for them than a problem for us.”
He continued, “Many people know Harry better than me, but he will not be influenced by anyone.”
