Almost a year after his physical change, the actor explained what he did.

In April 2021, Zac Efron was live on Facebook alongside several other celebrities to celebrate “Earth Day” and remind people of the importance of preserving our planet. But at the time, it was not his speech that caught the attention of Internet users, but his face.
In question? He looked particularly bloated, far from Zac Efron’s usual physique. Many internet users wondered if he had had cosmetic surgery, launching the hashtag #ZacEfronFace on social networks.
He admitted to having undergone an operation
In an interview for “Men’s Health”, Zac Efron finally explained this physical transformation. The actor admitted to having undergone jaw surgery, but not for cosmetic purposes. Indeed, he said he slipped on a pair of socks and hit his head against a granite fountain on his way home.
“He lost consciousness, and remembers waking up with the chin bone hanging from the end of his face”, specifies the media. After this terrible fall, the actor was hospitalized. His jaw was shattered from the shock. After the operation, the appearance of his jaw totally changed. His masseter muscle, which notably allows chewing, has become “really, really big”. Zac Efron had to work several months with a physio to regain a normal appearance.
