In the opening remarks, Guilarte de Nacimiento thanked the solidarity with the largest of the Antilles, of this plural and inclusive forum, for debate and consensus building that includes among its objectives the fight against inequalities and injustices, vindicating the rights of minorities and contribute to the establishment of a more balanced world order.

“The sustained and valuable contribution to solidarity with Cuba of those present here today is known by the Cuban people and they also feel grateful and committed to reciprocate,” said the union leader.

He also said that Cuba – despite suffering a ruthless economic, commercial and financial blockade – will continue to be committed to sharing what has been achieved, will be a bulwark of international solidarity and will maintain its will to exist as a sovereign and independent nation, in a constant path of improvement.

Subsequently, the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, offered an overview of the effects caused by the blockade imposed by the United States government more than 60 years ago, on the economic and social development of the Island in each of their sectors, and especially Cuban families, as well as the attempts to penetrate Cuban internal affairs through manipulation, lies and the use of policies described in the manuals of media and digital warfare.

Rodríguez Camejo called for unity and resistance, to continue fighting against imperialist policies that lacerate the civil, political, economic and social rights of Cuban workers and the world,

“Cuba practices solidarity and the United States government knows that, that is precisely what they are afraid of, they cannot forgive us for being here and having made a socialist revolution under the very nose of the empire,” said the Cuban diplomat, who reaffirmed Cuba’s support for the Saharawi and Syrian causes, that of the peoples from the Rio Grande to Patagonia and advocated the integration of nations against the doctrines of the empire and the inalienable right to independence.

For this day, work is planned in five commissions, which will address issues such as anti-imperialist unity against the Monroe Doctrine, the rights of young workers and women in defense of peace, sovereignty and solidarity, the challenges of the class workers in the contemporary world, the struggles of the social and popular movements, peace, the role of Youth and women, the just causes of the world and the survival of the struggles from the Left.

This event is held every year, sponsored by the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba and the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples. In the previous days, the different delegations made up of supportive friends from all continents, visited work centers and neighborhoods of the Cuban capital.
