Aghii Anargyri: Eleni Mazaraki, the lawyer of the father of the 28-year-old who was murdered by her ex-partner, spoke on the show “Syndeses” about the behavior of the perpetrator, saying that during the time they were together “he was manipulative and considered Sunday his property”.
Speaking to the presenters of the show Christina Vidou and Costa Papachliminzo about the stage of the investigations regarding the possible responsibilities of the police officers on the fateful night of the femicide, he said: “We are following very carefully the developments of the Sworn Administrative Examination which has already started and of course the possible development of the case and possibly at a criminal level for the serious omissions and non-application of the law by the competent police officers”
Asked if the 39-year-old perpetrator’s initial goal, who cited psychological problems, was the murder of his ex-partner from the beginning, he answered in the affirmative.
“Of course he had a purpose. It was fraud in the first degree. His homicidal cunning is pantheonological. He traveled from Arta on March 30 to come to Athens. He kept a close eye on Sunday in order to carry out his heinous crime. He had made it his aim to take her life, since their separation was final. After all, that’s why he was carrying this particular knife,” said Ms. Mazaraki. And as he pointed out, “nobody goes out for a walk on a Monday night, carrying a kitchen knife”.
Agioi Anargyri: The 39-year-old had no psychiatric problems
With reference to the line of defense that the perpetrator is expected to follow and the eventual invocation of psychiatric problems, Ms. Mazarakis argued that the 39-year-old “did not have any psychiatric problems”. In fact, as he said after his heinous act, he was examined on April 2 by the doctor of the Psychiatric Hospital of Attica, but also afterwards when he was admitted to the judicial prisons of Korydallos. Also, as he stated, “he was examined by two psychiatrists and it was diagnosed that the man is fully functional, that he is fully aware of what is happening.”
In fact, according to what he claimed to be written by the doctors in the relevant opinions after the femicide, the 39-year-old “does not have suicidal ideation and moreover that he is also manipulative”.
Mrs. Mazaraki, wanting to deconstruct the allegations of the perpetrator, emphasized that the documents she has presented concern the use of narcotic substances on his part. “Nothing to do with any psychiatric illnesses, and in fact his entire behavior, methodology, but also the objective evidence, the method of attack, and the time before and after the act of allegedly trying to kill himself by giving himself a superficial blow, while on the contrary the blows towards the unfortunate Sunday were very strong and fatal, if nothing else they testify that he was fully aware of what he was doing and in no way had psychiatric problems”.
Saints Anargyri: It was a toxic relationship
In particular, as he claimed, “the 39-year-old had conceived his plan from the first moment in every detail and when he found the opportunity to surprise his victim, he carried out this awful act”.
Describing the relationship of the former couple, Ms. Mazaraki stated that “it was a toxic relationship.” And as the 28-year-old’s father said, whom he represents, he did not know many details of the relationship because otherwise he would have intervened earlier to protect his child, just like any parent.
Speaking about the unfortunate Sunday, he described her as a kind child, who kept her composure even “when she received indifference and irony from the policemen” at the AT Agios Anargyrons and the answering machine of 100, as recorded in the audio document.
Regarding the 39-year-old, the father’s lawyer added that “he was a man who was not only manipulative, but he was a man who considered Sunday. […] He thought that since she will not be with him, she has no right to live. She has no right to have another life beyond and away from him. It is the behavior of deeply selfish people, who in no way love their victims, but instead are manipulative.”
