He falls into the river with his backhoe

A worker was treated to quite a scare on Friday followingnoon when the backhoe he was riding in fell into the St. Lawrence River in Sainte-Catherine, Montérégie.

The worker was not injured in the event.

The backhoe operator was carrying out work along the river when the large vehicle began to slide in the river, becoming partially submerged.

The incident, which might potentially have had tragic consequences, occurred around 1:20 p.m. on the RécréoParc site.

The man managed to climb onto the roof of the backhoe and then wait for the arrival of first responders.

A towing operation was to take place later in the followingnoon to get the backhoe out of its precarious position.
