According to the authorities, a 26-year-old driver who was driving on Marien Avenue would have run his red light, before violently colliding with a van which was driving on Sherbrooke Street East and which was facing a green light. Two other vehicles were also involved in the crash.

The driver of the offending vehicle drove directly into the rear part of the van, on the passenger side, where a 5-year-old boy was seated.
