And he went on to say: “The typical COVID-19 pneumonia has become rarer, yes. But many chronic diseases (such as COPD, heart failure, diabetes, kidney disease, dementia) experience an acute deterioration as a result of the viral infection. The same applies to COVID-19 as for influenza.”
In addition, in his experience, most of the infected employees in the health sector are “sick enough” despite BA 4/5 to put the current discussion about the quarantine regulation into perspective. Less than half can currently take a free test on day 5 because it is still symptomatic.”
Covid-19 is still causing an increase in patients compared to before. “We have been MORE busy than ever before for around 2 years. Therefore – despite our best efforts – there are still restrictions in some areas, although not to the extent of 2021 and early 2022.”
Valipour is now particularly pushing for “a targeted, innovative vaccination campaign (the topic is not yet through) – a procedure for the start of school communicated in good time and more contact points for long-Covid.” The latter is partly being processed in the Ministry of Health.
