Upper Austria Tourism Day marks the starting signal for the implementation of the state tourism strategy 2030

Linz/Upper Austria (OTS) On November 20th, 300 guests accepted the invitation from the State of Upper Austria, WKO Upper Austria and Upper Austria Tourism to the “Upper Austrian Tourism Day 2023” in Linz. The new state tourism strategy 2030 was presented at the Upper Austrian tourism industry event under the motto “Tourism.Future.Upper Austria”.

Qualitative growth strategy for tourism

“The state tourism strategy 2030 is a qualitative growth strategy for the tourism industry in Upper Austria. It embeds the economic goal of increasing tourism value creation in a multidimensional set of goals that also includes market goals, ecological and social goals as well as smartness and innovation goals. The major transformation drivers of our time, sustainability and digitalization, span all milestones of the new strategy as the basic principles of tourism activities,” summarizes Markus Achleitner, State Councilor for Economic Affairs and Tourism.

Four milestones define the fields of action in which the strategic guidelines are implemented. In a joint effort by all tourism system partners, it is important to design the leisure and recreation area of Upper Austria with attractive offerings and motifs, to fuel employee and entrepreneurial dynamics, to powerfully boost the Upper Austria brand and to increase the efficiency of the tourism structures and to effectively increase organizations.

“Our goal of becoming one of the most sustainable tourism countries also means a broad involvement of everyone: from those responsible for tourism, to the companies and their employees, to the population and the guests. Upper Austria’s state tourism strategy 2030 is particularly forward-looking here, it reflects everyone’s perspectives,” praises Tourism State Secretary Mag.a Susanne Kraus-Winkler.

Companies and employees support tourism

“Our tourism businesses are actively committed to the innovative, sustainable and resource-saving further development of existing offers and thus act as role models for the successful interaction of economy and ecologyMag.a Doris Hummer, President of the WKO Upper Austria, is convinced. The state tourism strategy 2030 aims to support companies in the area of employee dynamics, by introducing the “next generation” to the industry, by promoting entrepreneurial and start-up culture and by actively promoting sustainable and digital Transformation. “Tourism in Upper Austria is characterized by a cross-generational family-run understanding of business. “Social responsibility is taken into account from the beginning to the end of one’s working life through the training of young specialists and advice on starting a new business through to supporting entrepreneurs in handing them over to further generations.”explains Robert Seeber, Federal Chairman of the Tourism and Leisure Industry Division of the WKO.

Vision, target groups, offers and markets

The state tourism strategy 2030 defines the target groups as holiday guests with a multi-day stay in Upper Austria, excursion and day guests as well as conference and business travelers. The playing field for this is defined by four offer and motif fields: Inspiring culture, moving nature, hungry for real (culinary), vitalizing for body and mind. “The target image is a clear statement of how we imagine Upper Austria as a leisure and relaxation area: value instead of quantity, real, high-quality and sustainable holiday experiences in harmony with nature and the people in the country. This is about innovations in products, services and the way we develop and communicate them. We can only be successful if we consistently implement it together.”explains Mag. Andreas Winkelhofer, Managing Director of Upper Austria Tourism.
