We just want to take down a few monsters with our voices. With these words, Djaro & the Anonymous Melancholics have already made a good declaration of support in the realization of their album. Now it’s here, it’s called “The City in View” and will be presented on March 22nd from 8:30 p.m. in the Linz Stadtwerkstatt.
Accordion, cello, guitar, three voices – it doesn’t take much to create an impact. Originality isn’t bad either – that’s what the trio with Merlin Großmann, the real name of the songwriter and storyteller Djaro, Lorenz Posch and Christoph Meier has. Their songs are about love as well as the feeling of freedom and the mental life of someone lying in the hospital in Macedonia.
But it’s not just lyrical moments of life that find space here; Djaro and his companions also don’t hold back when it comes to social criticism. But they don’t do this with a wooden hammer either, but with a fine (linguistic) blade and high musicality.
When the sun shines, life is okaysays the title track of their debut album. Anyone who listens to the Linz Trio can get this feeling without the sun.
