Health Inspectorate prepares to deal with cases of medical negligence – news

The inspector general of Health, Solino Joel, said that this institution has received many complaints about various situations that occur in hospitals, including cases of medical negligence, which, in the near future, will receive special attention

The heads of the inspection department of the eighteen provinces of Angola participated, for two days, 12 and 13 December, in the national health inspection workshop, in Luanda, which took place under the motto “health inspection, firm in guaranteeing good -being of society”.

With the aim of establishing work guidelines and having a more robust inspection capable of responding to the population’s complaints, the IGS has worked with large hospitals and recorded things that, it recognizes, need to be corrected.

Medical negligence is still a problem, so actions will be intensified to address this situation.

According to the General Inspector of Health, Solino Joel, the patient goes to the hospital looking for a professional to provide a solution to their health problem and no one should escape this responsibility.

“For those who escape this responsibility, it is the mission of the team that manages it to go after this professional and correct the error.

Across the country we have received several complaints, from when a patient appears and says that he was charged money to be treated, even though he knows that in hospitals [públicos] No one can charge for the services provided, even the most serious ones”, he emphasizes.

Whenever they receive a complaint, said the inspector, they have a team to investigate the situation and, many times, they catch the offenders, especially those who charge for services, mistreat patients, etc.

Fake doctors worry

Another issue that concerns the General Health Inspectorate is the emergence of many fake doctors practicing the profession in the national territory. The population is asked to report this fact so that the necessary measures can be taken.

In these cases, the accused are handed over to the Criminal Investigation Service, which has often ended in the conviction of the offenders.

Still on this subject, the person responsible made it known that he is concerned about the issue of border control, not only due to the entry of fake doctors, but also to guard against possible pathologies that may arise in the country.

“We have a very vast border, air, land and sea, which is why we are asking for greater control from inspectors”, appealed the person in charge, who stated that “we are really paying attention, inspectors are receiving some serious support so that each one can do their own thing. work”.

Improvement of services

For the provincial secretary of Health of Cabinda, Rúben Buco, inspection services must be permanent and continuous and carrying out the activity aims to increasingly consolidate strategies in order to provide a better response to users.

It also considers it important that both ANIESA and ARMED are in sync to achieve this same action objective.

The director of the provincial health office of Bié, João Campos, considers the meeting to be opportune, as the health sector still has several problems, such as false technicians, contraceptive medications, negligence, among others.

“We have to take advantage, in the sense of working to improve surveillance.

Bié borders seven provinces and there is every need to reinforce the work”, he said. He considers it important to improve preventive health conditions, so as not to have to resort to cures.

“Primary, secondary and tertiary services must work”, he suggested
