Health: Intensifying training of medical teams to open mental health clinics

The Ministry of Health and Population announced the implementation of an intensive training plan for doctors and nurses working in women’s clinics in units affiliated with the General Secretariat of Hospitals and Educational Institutes in a number of governorates of the Republic.

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, indicated that the training comes in preparation for the opening of a number of women’s mental health clinics, as part of the ministry’s plan to upgrade the skills and capabilities of medical teams, and improve medical services provided to women.

For her part, Dr. Manen Abdel Maqsoud, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, explained that the training included a number of topics related to women’s mental health, including (early detection of mental illnesses, psychological first aid in emergency situations, and cases that require the intervention of a specialized psychiatrist). .

In turn, Dr. Mohamed Fawzy, head of the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes, directed the activation of women’s mental health clinics in educational hospitals, starting with Al-Galaa Teaching Hospital for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Children.

After the training was completed, the certificates were handed over to the trainees, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Fawzy, President of the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes, and Dr. Rania Zakaria, Director General of the General Administration for Mental Health Hospitals Affairs and Addiction Treatment, at the headquarters of the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes.
