Health. The Grand Est passes to the epidemic stage for the flu

In recent days, the number of emergency room visits for flu-like illness has increased in all age groups. At SOS Médecins, the number of consultations is also increasing. Currently, influenza activity represents 8% of all activity there.

The peak of the bronchiolitis epidemic could have been reached, even if the Grand Est still remains at the epidemic stage. The share of activity linked to bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age in the emergency services stabilizes around 30%, writes Public Health France. Within the SOS Médecins associations, this share of activity is even “slightly down” – around 15% of all activity. Nevertheless, according to the results of the virology laboratories of the University Hospitals of Nancy, Reims and Strasbourg, the circulation of RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) remains at “a high level”.

Finally, concerning the Covid-19 epidemic, the incidence rate is increasing in all age groups. If the number of consultations for Covid stabilizes at SOS Médecins, the number of visits to the emergency room increases slightly. Public Health France also indicates that new hospitalizations are increasing in all services (conventional medicine and critical care).

Concerning the vaccination coverage in the Grand Est, it stabilized, in the general population, at 77.3% for the complete primary vaccination and at 61% for the first booster dose. “These vaccination coverages increase with age, but the class of 75 years and over has lower vaccination coverages than that of 65-74 years”, specifies Public Health France. Just over a third of 60-79 year olds were up to date with vaccinations last week, and 13.8% of 80 year olds are over.
