“Healthcare Workers Charged with Negligence in Maradona’s Death: Latest Updates”

2023-04-20 03:46:49

Eight healthcare workers in Argentina have been charged with negligent homicide over the death of football legend Diego Maradona.

A court in the city of San Isidro rejected the defense’s appeals on a lesser charge and upheld an indictment issued a year ago by prosecutors for negligence and ineffectiveness in Maradona’s treatment.

The prison term, if proven guilty, ranges from 8 to 25 years, while the trial is unlikely to start until next year.

Maradona died in November 2020 due to heart failure, following undergoing brain surgery a few days earlier.
