Heavy fall of Arnaud De Lie on the last stage of the Tour de Wallonie

After having won the 3rd stage of the Tour de Wallonie, Monday, Arnaud De Lie had a complicated end to the race. Tuesday, the young Walloon did not feel well and sacrificed himself for his teammates. This Wednesday, the one who has won seven victories since the start of the season fell heavily on a cobbled area about 40 kilometers from the finish.

Lying on the ground for a long time, De Lie was taken care of by the race medical service. He attempted to resume racing but was forced to retire due to a knee injury according to his team.

For the Lotto Soudal team, it is to be hoped that the 20-year-old’s injuries are not too serious as he is the main points provider for the Belgian side still battling relegation.

Earlier in the day, Biniam Girmay (Intermarché-Wanty Gobert) had been forced to retire following a fall on the 2nd cobbled section of the stage. Examinations have yet to confirm any injuries.
