Here is the number of Belgians who changed their sex last year

In Wallonia, there were 179 official modifications to the recording of the genre on civil status documents, while 47 people started such a procedure in the Brussels Region and 295 in Flanders.

In 2020, 414 people had changed their gender identity, the Institute for the Equality of Women and Men said last May on the basis of figures from the National Register. These were 205 transgender women and 209 transgender men. In 2019, 524 people (263 transgender women and 261 transgender men) had their official sex entry changed in the National Registry.

Since January 1, 2018, no medical intervention is required to change the F or M on their birth certificate.
