For his part, Dr. Amjad Al-Khouli, a consultant in epidemiology at the World Health Organization in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, told Al Arabiya.net that a patient had been confirmed to have two types of viruses at the same time, namely the influenza virus and the Covid-19 virus.
Al-Khouli indicated that this is the first time that this double infection has been conclusively proven, although there were several previous reports confirming the possibility of double infection between Covid-19 and other respiratory viruses.

Al-Khouli stressed that it is important to emphasize that so far, double infection has not been verified by the World Health Organization, but what we know so far is that double infection occurs accidentally.
And the epidemiologist added that the precautionary measures to prevent infection with both viruses are one, so failure to adhere to these procedures, including the use of a mask, maintaining physical distance, and avoiding crowded and poorly ventilated places increases the chances of infection with one or both viruses, and vaccines remain the most effective way to prevent or Reduce the risk of infection with these viruses.
Al-Khouli recommends the use of Covid-19 and influenza vaccines, especially for groups most vulnerable to infection or complications.
With regard to treatment, Al-Khouli stressed that each disease has its own treatment protocols. The selection of the appropriate protocol mainly depends on the clinical symptoms and their severity.
