Magath continued: “I only have the result from Mainz now, I don’t know how it came about. But it’s not nice.”

Magath did not accuse FC Bayern of direct distortion of competition; but he expects the German champions to give their all in the last two games of the season.

When asked about Magath’s criticism, Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann responded: “Very clever of him. I don’t think he’ll do it entirely unselfishly. He should watch the game and then he can call me. I’m not talking about the performance of either Hertha.”

While Mainz already before the 3:1 win against FC Bayern had secured relegation, Hertha BSC must continue to tremble. With two games to go, the Berliners are 15th in the table. four points ahead of VfB Stuttgart (16th, 29 points) and six points ahead of Arminia Bielefeld (17th, 27 points).
