This new facility is part of the company’s ongoing global investment to create a diverse and strong supply chain to meet global aerospace customer demand for engineered cores, and aeronautical materials.

The plant converts lightweight honeycomb materials into machined parts to strengthen structures, with applications in the aerospace industry, particularly for aircraft structures, engine nacelles and blades. helicopter.

The Casablanca facility is thus dedicated to the manufacture of complex structures to meet aerospace requirements.

“The Moroccan industrial sector is more than ever, among the most competitive in the world”, declared on this occasion the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, attributing the development of the country’s industry to the competence, l commitment and ambition of Moroccan talent.

He also underlined the power of American industry, particularly in the aeronautical sector, as well as the strength of relations between Morocco and the United States, which are experiencing significant dynamics. And to specify that the mastery of new technologies represents an opportunity for this sector where the demand is more and more growing while the offer is always in deficit, adding that the national industry is in full revival following the crises recorded lately.

For her part, Aimee Cutrona, Deputy Head of Mission at the United States Embassy in Morocco, highlighted the Kingdom’s progress in terms of manufacturing industrial materials, job creation in the sector, and export capabilities.

She thus noted that aeronautics, which is experiencing remarkable growth at present, represents a key sector to further strengthen this long-standing cooperation between Morocco and the United States.

For his part, Thierry Merlot, President of Hexcel – Aeronautics Europe, Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Africa & Industry, indicated that the size of the factory has thus increased to nearly 13,000 m2, while the workforce increases to 400 people over time.

In 2018, Hexcel opened a new factory in Casablanca to increase its engineered core manufacturing capacity. Construction on this $20 million project began in the spring of 2016. The site was fully operational by mid-2017, while the $30 million expansion was launched in 2021 for opening in 2023.
