Today, Friday, Lebanese Hezbollah launched new attacks on Israeli military sites off southern Lebanon, killing an Israeli soldier and wounding others, while the occupation forces launched raids on Lebanese towns.

Hezbollah announced – in separate statements – that it had carried out 5 attacks on Israeli military sites off the Lebanese border.

The party said that it targeted in two batches the Shomera barracks and gatherings of Israeli soldiers in its vicinity, a gathering of Israeli officers and soldiers in the Evin Menachem settlement, and an Israeli infantry force in the vicinity of the Metulla site, confirming that direct hits were achieved there.

It was also announced that a gathering of soldiers and their vehicles were targeted in the vicinity of the Al-Manara site and a command and control center opposite the town of Kafr Kila with appropriate weapons, causing direct hits in both of them.

At the same time, the party mourned 3 of its fighters who died today in confrontations with the occupation army, without clarifying the circumstances of their deaths.

On the other hand, the Israeli army announced that one soldier was killed and another was seriously injured as a result of the explosion of an anti-tank missile fired by Hezbollah towards a military site in the Upper Galilee.

Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that more than 20 missiles were fired from southern Lebanon towards Israeli military sites between the settlements of Zarit and Shtoula in the Upper Galilee.

For its part, Israeli Army Radio said that 24 missiles were monitored from Lebanon at northern Israel this morning.

Injuries and destruction of homes

Israeli media reported that 5 Israelis were slightly injured – today, Friday – as a result of an anti-armor missile explosion in the border settlement of Avivim in the Upper Galilee, and 4 homes were destroyed as a result of anti-armor missiles fired from Lebanese territory.

Israeli Radio indicated that the rocket launch coincided with the sound of sirens in a number of settlements near the Lebanese border.

Sirens have sounded repeatedly since this morning in a number of settlements near the Lebanese border.

Hezbollah announced yesterday that it had targeted with missiles 6 settlements and 4 military sites off the southern border.

Israeli response

In response to Hezbollah’s attacks, Israeli aircraft and artillery bombed, during the past hours, the vicinity of more than 20 towns in southern Lebanon.

The Israeli army announced that it bombed Hezbollah military sites and infrastructure after shelling was fired from Lebanon at the border towns.

Al Jazeera’s correspondent said that 3 Israeli raids targeted the Labouneh area in the western sector of southern Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Israeli Channel 12 said that Israel needs international legitimacy and American weapons to wage a comprehensive war on Lebanon.

Israeli officials had threatened to launch a military operation to force Hezbollah to withdraw from the border area beyond the Litani River, about 30 kilometers north.

Occupation withdrawal

Politically, Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said that the solution to the situation in the south of the country is through implementing international resolutions to which Lebanon is committed.

Mikati added that the Israeli side must also withdraw from the occupied Lebanese territories in accordance with international laws.

At the end of last October, Mikati said that he was working to avoid Lebanon entering into war.

Worsening escalation

The border region in southern Lebanon has witnessed a worsening military escalation between Israel and Hezbollah since the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7th.

Hezbollah mainly carried out daily operations against Israeli military targets near the border, placing this within the framework of supporting the Gaza Strip and “in support of its resistance.”

Israel responds by bombing border areas, targeting what it describes as the movements of Hezbollah fighters and its facilities near the border. The intensity of the bombing has increased recently, resulting in major destruction in some neighborhoods of the southern border villages.

So far, cross-border confrontations have resulted in the killing of more than 100 Hezbollah members, while the Israeli army has acknowledged the killing of 10 of its soldiers, in addition to the killing of a number of settlers.
