Earlier this month, Steam Achievements sounded like Hi-Fi Rush would soon be getting more content, and now it’s official.
Arcade challenge! is a free update coming to Hi-Fi Rush on July 5, and the highlights are two new modes that will spice things up. BPM Rush will allow us to fight our way through waves of enemies while the beats per minute and the challenges continue to increase until they reach 200 BPM. It looks like a fun mode for those of us who want to test how good we are, but there will also be easy and hard options if you find it too difficult.
To light up! Come up! is basically a random version of Rhythm Tower where Chai starts with a blank slate and has to get stronger by defeating enemies. Completing a lap will allow us to choose between random “Improvements” and “Bugs”. Upgrades increase our stats and give us advantages while lowering the score multiplier. Bugs, on the other hand, are negative modifiers that increase our scoring potential.
The update also includes five new songs, two new enemies, new special attacks and a challenge system that rewards us with new accessories for Chai, 808 and Korsica. That last part is probably one of the reasons we’re also getting new photo mode options.
