Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, July 18. On July 18, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met with Kerry, the special envoy of the US President on climate issues, in Beijing.

Wang Yi expressed that the world needs a stable China-US relationship. President Xi Jinping and President Biden held a successful meeting in Bali, Indonesia last November and reached important consensus. The two sides must earnestly implement it, jointly eliminate interference, and bring Sino-US relations back to the track of healthy development.

Wang Yi pointed out that under the guidance of Xi Jinping’s thoughts on ecological civilization, China adheres to the path of green, low-carbon and sustainable development, actively develops international cooperation in addressing climate change, and promotes the building of a clean and beautiful world towards the goal of building a community with a shared future for mankind. China is willing to strengthen dialogue and communication with the United States, discuss mutually beneficial cooperation, and jointly address climate change. Sino-U.S. cooperation on climate change has huge potential, and at the same time, it cannot be separated from the understanding and support of the people of the two countries, and cannot be separated from the overall environment of Sino-U.S. relations. It is hoped that the U.S. will pursue a rational, pragmatic, and positive policy toward China, continue to adhere to the one-China principle, properly handle the Taiwan issue, and work with China to practice mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation.

Kerry said that the US attaches importance to stabilizing US-China relations and hopes to work with China to further improve bilateral relations and benefit the world. The United States has always adhered to the one-China policy, and is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in the spirit of mutual respect, properly handle differences and differences between the two countries, and jointly address global challenges such as climate change.
