In 2009, an apartment building in Yongsan, Seoul, received permission for reconstruction.
It is 56 stories high, and unlike other apartments in the vicinity, it soars high by itself.
At that time, Mayor Oh Se-hoon was the first to permit an apartment building over 50 floors along the Han River.

In 2013, the late Mayor Park Won-soon, the former mayor of Seoul, restricted the construction of apartments on the Han River to a maximum of 35 stories, and the buildings were built according to the 35th floor.
Mayor Oh Se-hoon, who took over as mayor again, announced that he would lift the 35-floor regulation for the first time in eight years.

We plan to improve the ‘skyline’, the exterior of the city where the buildings touch the sky, by determining the number of floors each time a reconstructed apartment is reviewed.
There is also concern that the already overcrowded downtown Seoul may be overdeveloped.

Regarding concerns that real estate prices will fluctuate, the city of Seoul said, “Even if the number of floors increases, the floor area ratio remains the same, so there is no reason for apartment prices to rise.”
Recently, construction companies that are promoting apartment reconstruction are raising expectations for the reconstruction by offering a design plan to build 50 to 60-story apartments.
