Highest award from the cinema and distribution industry for The Walt Disney Company Austria

“Diamond Ticket” from ARGE Film und Kino for over 1 million visitors to the blockbuster “Avatar: The Way of Water”

Vienna (OTS) On March 7, 2023, after more than a decade, a “Diamond Ticket” was awarded to a film distributor in Austria. This is the highest award of the film and cinema working group in the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ), which is awarded to economically successful films. In addition to the “Golden Ticket” for more than 300,000 visitors and the “Platinum Ticket” for more than 600,000 visitors, the “Diamond Ticket” is awarded when the million visitors are reached.

“James Cameron’s ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ has delighted more than 1,100,000 million cineastes in our domestic cinemas and is therefore also the highest-grossing film of all time in Austria. It is a great honor for us to be able to award a “Diamond Ticket” again after 13 years. This award to ‘The Walt Disney Company (Austria) GmbH’ underscores the position of the cinemas as the undisputed number one sales partner for the film industry,” say the representatives of ARGE Film und Kino.

“The film is a huge hit and we are really happy that so many moviegoers saw ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ on the big screen in spectacular 3D. More than 1 million visitors are not only an extraordinary result, but also a positive statement for the entire cinema industry in Austria,” said Theresa Prinz and Klemens Karwinski from Disney Austria.
