A man from Salzburg suffered a traumatic brain injury in a cow attack in Bluntautal. A witness to the incident suddenly disappeared. She should report to the police immediately.
Actually, Erwin L. wanted to take a leisurely walk through the Bluntautal in Golling with his family and friends from the Netherlands, who are currently spending their holidays in Salzburg.
But the comfortable trip came to an abrupt end on Sunday (August 20, 5 p.m.). Some cows were on the hiking trail and are said to have suddenly attacked the Salzburger. The fall had serious consequences. The man was taken to the Hallein hospital. A traumatic brain injury was diagnosed there. The man from Salzburg then had to spend a day in intensive care before he could return to his family.
“The cows suddenly became very restless”
His stepdaughter was somewhat distant from her stepfather in this incident. “We noticed that the cows were a bit restless, then everything happened very quickly,” she explains. The rescue was called immediately. “It was all very hectic. We were all in shock,” says the stepdaughter.
The witness had disappeared
The victim can no longer remember the incident: “I can’t remember about 90 minutes. I can’t remember what happened or what happened afterwards.” A witness confirmed shortly after the accident that the man had been pushed by a cow and then hit his head on the ground. According to the stepdaughter, a police officer was also on the spot, but he did not record any data. The witness should report to the police immediately.
The police have started the investigation
The police have also started further investigations. “We have to see how the whole thing happened and which police officer was there. Only then can we say more about this case,” explains police spokesman Hans Wolfgruber.
In this case, however, it becomes very difficult to find the owner of the cow. According to Nikolaus Malter, chairman of the pasture cooperative, 52 farmers are part of the cooperative who let their cows graze there.
