Hiking is a sport that continues to gain followers in Neuquén, mainly due to the characteristics and beauties that the geography offers in the provincial territory. It is precisely this charm that aroused the interest of the French government to make a significant investment in the activity, with the aim of promoting Neuquén locations.
The 150,000 euros will be disbursed to promote a cooperation program that focuses on hiking in Villa la Angostura and Villa Traful.
The investment will be through the project presented by the COPADE, Ministry of Tourism of Neuquén, the municipalities of Villa La Angostura, Traful, National Parks, clubs and with the contribution of specialists in the activity. The idea reached the Call for Triennial Projects 2023-2025 for “Turnkey” Decentralized Cooperation programs and was later approved by the French Government.
Said project contemplates three axes: the development of the Hiking Product and diversification of nature activities; support for the structuring of a territorial governance model and the strengthening of local capacities and the reverse mission in both countries.
As reported, it will begin to be applied in Neuquén from the month of June.
A French technical delegation arrived in Neuquén in February to work with the local governments of Villa La Angostura and Villa Traful. In that instance, coordination was achieved with all those involved, National Parks and the Association of Mountain Guides of Villa La Angostura.
