Hillel Academy Hosts Inaugural HILMUN 2026 Model United Nations Conference

Students from various institutions islandwide convened at Hillel Academy for Hillel Model United Nations 2026, an event run by students that offered a space for rising changemakers to discuss world affairs, forge agreements, and showcase youth involvement.

Hosted under the theme Youth Leads. Tomorrow Follows, the single-day gathering united roughly 100 high schoolers for a programme focused on international relations, teamwork, leadership, and diplomacy. Organised and executed by the student executive board of the Hillel Academy Model United Nations Club, the event marked the school’s first-ever model United Nations conference.

Six Committees Examined International Challenges and UN Goals

The conference featured six distinct committees examining different international challenges, with the second committee exploring economic stability, sustainable development, and international cooperation. The fifth committee examined financial and budgetary matters, resource management, financial responsibility, transparency, and the effective allocation of resources to support the United Nations’ goals and operations.

For Co-Gina Strachan, the conference was particularly meaningful following last year’s destructive hurricane, providing students with an outlet to demand change while learning diplomatic presentation methods.

In every chair’s committee, delegates could find their voice through another identity and debate change in global issues that real diplomats in the UN battle with every day, Strachan said. Fellow Co-Noah Bayley-Haye described the event as an opportunity to strengthen diplomatic skills and develop young leaders across the participating schools.
