HIV-Positive Man Spits Blood on 8 Officers, Triggers Health Protocol

The incident prompted the immediate activation of local health protocols via the Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques.

The Incident and Emergency Response in Lloret de Mar

According to regional reporting from elCaso.cat and La Ciutat, the events unfolded at approximately 2:15 p.m. near the beach in Lloret de Mar. A suspect was initially observed recording female bathers, prompting a companion of the women to intervene and strike the individual, resulting in a facial injury. The suspect fled the scene on foot before police arrived to identify him.

Upon locating the suspect, officers encountered an aggressive resistance that necessitated additional reinforcement units to subdue and immobilize him. During the ensuing struggle and restraint, the detained individual continued violent behavior, actively spitting blood at the surrounding law enforcement personnel. Following the intervention, a subsequent medical examination of the detainee revealed a positive HIV status.

Because multiple officers came into direct contact with the blood-contaminated saliva, the Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques immediately deployed health protocols. All eight affected officers received clinical assessments on-site and were subsequently discharged following standard medical triage.
