Ho Chi Minh City supermarket is full of shoppers on Tet holiday

Thousands of people flocked to supermarkets to shop to prepare for the Lunar New Year 2023. Cashier counters were overcrowded, customers waited in long lines to get paid.

On the morning of December 29, thousands of people crowded together to shop at Super Emart (Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City). Around 11am on the same day, it is estimated that thousands of people are choosing products and waiting for payment.

The weighing area for vegetables and fruits is always full of customers, sometimes there is no aisle because customers flock to it too much.

Items such as marshmallows, jelly, jam, melon seeds, sunflowers of all kinds… are sold by this supermarket in the form of signs, which are popular with many people. The price here is popular at 12,000-25,000 VND / 100 g depending on the type.

Supermarket employees have to work continuously to put goods on the shelves, ensuring enough supply for customers.

However, the instant noodle stall area is constantly empty because people buy too much.

Fashion products such as clothes are heavily discounted up to 50% attracting many customers to choose.

Recorded at 11:30, although 42 cashier counters were operating at full capacity, the queue of people waiting for payment still extended to the goods display area.

Many people said it took them 30-45 minutes to pay. In the last 2 days of the year, many supermarkets in Ho Chi Minh City will extend their opening hours until 11pm to support people in shopping.

Mr. Dai Hai (living in Binh Thanh district) said that he and his family took advantage of shopping on the 29th of Tet because of busy work. “Going to shop these days I was determined to be very crowded. So, it’s okay to wait a little longer,” he shared.

Similarly, many systems of commercial centers and supermarkets such as Aeon (Tan Phu district), Go! Big (District 10), MM Mega Market (Thu Duc City)… also attract a large number of customers to shop.

The stalls of fresh flowers and fruits with strong discounts attract many people to buy for Tet.

There was no jostling, but the number of people waiting to pay was almost completely covered at the cashier counters.

“Normally, I only need to wait in line for 5-10 minutes to pay, maybe today everyone is taking advantage of the year-end shopping, so I’ve been waiting for almost an hour and still haven’t got my turn,” she said. Tuyet Anh (Tan Phu district) said.
