Hockey World Cup 2022: broken foot – tournament end for Tristan Scherwey

The Swiss national team has to cope with a serious failure. Tristan Scherwey injured his right foot early in the first period against France after checking Crinon into the cushion. The striker had to be brought into the cabin with support. It quickly transpired from those close to the team that the player from Bern had to be taken to the hospital for further investigations.

The examinations revealed a bitter diagnosis. Coach Patrick Fischer dejected: «The news is not good. He suffered a broken foot and will no longer be able to play.” With Freiburg, one of the leaders of this team has to throw in the towel. Fischer adds: “He is an extremely important player for us. He’s one of our leaders and it hurts me so much for him.” After the 2-0 deficit, he told the team that they should get this game for Scherwey as well.
