In Hofstetten-Flüh in Solothurn, a church was on fire on Friday evening. Various readers had pointed this out to the editors. On request, the Solothurn canton police confirmed that a church was burning in the village. The report reached the police at 5:25 p.m., whereupon several fire brigade troops were called up.
It is not a full fire: The Flemings are almost invisible from the outside, but inside the church has caught fire, says the canton police on request. However, the photos that the editorial staff received show that the fire was clearly visible from the outside as well.
The fire has now been extinguished, say the canton police. The emergency services on site are now in the process of ventilating the church. The extent of the damage and the cause of the fire are still unclear. There were no injuries.
