A 19-year-old Ukrainian woman had a bright future, but she lost her calf during the war and still feels a dull ache from time to time.

According to the Daily Mailreport, Rusya Danilkina was 18 years old when the war broke out. Finding her country at war, the brave woman decided to volunteer for the army last April. At first, my parents thought she was young and inexperienced, and she should only be sent to do clerical work, so they agreed to let her join. However, after joining the army, Rosia went to the army for training, and even went to the front line to serve in person.

On February 10 this year, she and two other volunteers went to support a city in southern Ukraine, which was under heavy Russian artillery fire. Roseya recalled that when they arrived, they could tell that the city had just been attacked. Unexpectedly, a cannonball hit the car suddenly. For a while, Roseya thought she would die at the scene, so she took out her mobile phone to capture the current scene. She said that the car was covered in blood at the time, and she felt pain when she hugged her knee, but after a closer look, she found that her calf was gone.

When she was sent to the hospital, the doctor told Roseya that she had lost too much blood, and she would not be able to recover any later. Fortunately, she was sent to the hospital for treatment in time. But she lost a leg. Roseya, who has practiced martial arts since she was a child, still cannot accept the fact that she is physically handicapped. In an interview, she said that “practicing martial arts” was very important to her since she was a child, but now her body has become different from before, and she dare not even look in the mirror.

Rosia said that although she knew her leg was gone, sometimes she would feel that her leg was still there when lying on the bed. Every morning when she wakes up, the part of the broken limb will be particularly painful. However, the cause of this pain, which is called “phantom limb pain”, has not yet been found, so the pain can only be temporarily relieved by drugs.

Roseya, who lost her calf, did not complain about it. She said that she does not regret serving in the army. She believes that she has fulfilled her duty to the country and believes that she will continue to recover in the future. One day she will be able to walk again and go out with her family skip along.
