The presidential decree provides for this year 14 immovable holidays, 2 transferable and 3 for tourism purposeswhich accounts for a total of 19 holidays.
After the first immovable holiday of 2023, on January 1, the following will be on Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 February (Carnival Holidays).
However, before Easter, there are two other holidays: Friday, March 24, for the National Day of Remembrance for Truth and Justice, and Sunday, April 2, for Veterans Day and the Memorial in the Falklands war.
In the first case, it would be the first long weekend after the XXL Carnival holiday, with the kids going through classes in schools.
Then, finally, Easter will arrive. According to the 2023 National Calendar, the Thursday April 6 it will be a non-working day and the 7th, Good Fridayit will be a holiday.
Holy Week: what is the difference between a non-working day and a holiday
Although many will take advantage of the extra-long holiday to rest or travel, not all citizens will be able to do so on Holy Thursday.
As stipulated by the Ministry of the Interior, the day will be a “non-working day”, while Friday will be a holiday. The difference between these terms is clarified in the Labor Contracts Law.
For national holidays, the same legal norms apply as for Sunday rest. In other words, if they are worked, they will be rewarded with 100% plus the usual remuneration.
On the other hand, on non-working days, the worker will not be paid double the day and it is the employer who must define whether or not the workers will attend their posts.
This is stipulated for all sectors, except in the national, provincial and municipal public administrations, where there is no activity, as well as in banks and insurance.

Holidays of 2023 for tourist purposes (bridges)
- Friday May 26 (bridge with the holiday of Thursday May 25, Day of the May Revolution)
- Monday June 19 (bridge with the holiday of Tuesday June 20, Passage to the Immortality of General Manuel Belgrano)
- Friday, October 13 (long weekend, four days, by transfer from Thursday, October 12 – Day of Respect for Cultural Diversity) to Monday, October 16.
The extra-long “weekends” of 2023
With the established calendar, 2023 will have four extra-long weekends, of four days each:
- From Saturday February 18 to Tuesday February 21.
- From Thursday 25 to Sunday 28 May.
- From Saturday 17 to Tuesday 20 June.
- From Friday 13 to Monday 16 October.
