The producer Sentient Entertainment has obtained the cinematographic rights of The others, the horror film directed by Alejandro Amenábar and starring Nicole Kidman in 2001, the specialized website reported today Deadline.
Sentient’s plan, based in Los Angeles (USA), is to reinvent and modernize the story with frontline Hollywood actors, the portal maintains. The new version will be produced by Renee Tab and Christopher Tuffin.

Kidman won the Golden Globe and was nominated for a Bafta for his role, while Amenábar took the Goya for best director and best screenplay. The film, which raised more than 200 million dollars, tells how a mother is left in the care of her two young children in a lonely house on the hazy island of Jersey, located in the English Channel, awaiting the return of her husband from world war ii.
To the house, whose doors and windows must remain closed at all times to prevent light from reaching the little ones, affected by a strange evil that makes them allergic to the rays of the sun, three servants arrive to help unravel the mystery that surrounds to the inhabitants of the property.
