District 2 volleyball Teams Eliminated in PIAA Quarterfinals
Exeter Township High School Hosted a disappointing Saturday for District 2 boys’ volleyball, as both Holy Redeemer and Abington Heights saw their seasons end in the PIAA quarterfinals. The two teams fought hard but ultimately could not advance further in the state tournament.
Holy Redeemer Falls to York Suburban in Class 2A
Holy Redeemer’s stellar season concluded with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-21) loss to York Suburban in the PIAA Class 2A playoffs. Despite a strong showing throughout the year, the Royals could not overcome York Suburban’s performance.
Josh Rocha spearheaded Holy Redeemer’s effort with 29 kills,six service points,and two digs. His final season tally reached an impressive 956 kills and 125 digs. Setter Jack Wasiakowski added 37 assists, boosting his season total to 950.
Additional contributions came from Max Mohutsky with six digs and four kills, Korey Tang with five kills and two blocks, and Brandon DelBalso with three kills and two blocks.
Abington Heights’ Historic Run Ends Against Cumberland Valley
abington Heights’ historic season ended with a 3-0 (25-9,25-14,25-18) defeat against District 3 champion Cumberland Valley in the PIAA class 3A quarterfinals. Cumberland Valley, ranked No. 1 in the state, proved too strong for the Comets.
shawn Theodore and Shane Brower led the Abington Heights attack,each recording five kills. Theodore also added two blocks, while Brower had one. Chris Cummins led defensively with 13 digs. Sophomore Ryan Horutz contributed 18 assists, ending his season with 591.

York Suburban advances to the semifinals for a rematch with District 3 champion Manheim Central, after manheim Central defeated Dock Mennonite. Cumberland valley will face Governor Mifflin in the semifinals.
