The mother of three wanted to spend a relaxing day at the lake with her children and parents when she suddenly noticed a mosquito bite on her thigh. It is not known what kind of mosquito it was. A short time later, blood poisoning occurs, also known as sepsis, and the 38-year-old has to go to the hospital. Doctors there diagnosed kidney failure. After RTL report she fell into a coma and had to be operated on twelve times.

This mosquito species can transmit up to 20 different viruses, including West Nile, Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika viruses. Depending on the severity of the course of the disease, some of these infections can also be fatal.
