A woman and her son were formalized for their eventual responsibility in the murder of a man who would have entered his house to rob his house in Alerce, Los Lagos region. The defense of both alleges that they would not have beaten the victim to death, a death that occurred due to polytrauma that would have led to cardiac arrest.
Early Thursday morning, at least four armed criminals with their faces covered entered a house in the Alerce commune, Los Lagos region, to rob the property..
Inside, the family took refuge in a bedroom until the group discovered that there was a camera recording their movements, which led them to flee in a waiting car.
According to one of the versions, the person affected by the robbery, a merchant, would have gone after the criminals driving a van.
With this there would be thieves’ car crashedcausing them to crash and forcing them to continue on foot.
In the escape one of them was run over and then beaten, presumably, by the assailant and his mother.
Apart from being run over, the person would have received blows to the head, according to defender Nain Lamas.
According to the lawyer’s version, it is an action in legitimate defense, to which is added that, once the alleged thief was handed over to the police, third parties came to kick the person who ended up dead in the Alerce SAR, after suffering a heart failure.
Added to this was the report from the Legal Medical Service indicating polytrauma as the cause of death, with the most serious injury a broken legCoinciding with the crash.
In the Prosecutor’s Office they contradict the previous version and the persecutor Marcelo Maldonado reports that the person accused of the homicide and his mother, an alleged cover-up, beat the victim with their hands, feet and blunt elements, before leaving him with Carabineros.
The prosecutor added that they requested the precautionary measure of preventive detention, which was not accepted by the Guarantee Court.
Thus it was decreed night arrest of mother and sonin addition to a periodic signature before the authorities, which will be – eventually – demanded before the Court of Appeals of Puerto Montt.
Police discharged
In another aspect around the same event, Carabineros discharged two members of the institution for committing serious administrative failuresconfirmed Lieutenant Colonel Boris Alegría.
In his account, the officer indicated that in the procedure of the Sixth Police Station, negligence was detected on the part of specialized personnel of the institution.

Regarding the investigation against the – now – ex-uniformed, the head of the Public Ministry in Puerto Montt, Marcelo Maldonado, commented that the complaint was filed with the Prosecutor’s Office by Carabineros and that OS-9 proceedings revealed that there were situations that warranted initiating a criminal investigation, in order to elucidate the facts and know if the procedure together with the handling of evidence were done correctly.
The same process must also determine if there is criminal responsibility associated with an act that was not investigated in depth by the authorities.
