  • “An extremely strange feeling in the intimate area” recently had a woman from Honduras.

  • She then had herself examined in the hospital – what the gynecologist then found is hard to believe.

  • Apparently a cockroach had entered the woman’s vagina and died there.

Sex toys or condoms had to be Dr. Marco Calix, a gynecologist from the Honduran capital Tegucigalpa, has often removed insects from his patients’ intimate areas, but not yet – and then a cockroach! This was reported by the “Dailymail”.

The woman into whom the insect had strayed was also shocked. She said she had no idea how the insect got inside her. Calix explained the incident by saying that the woman was “from a rural area”.

Because of malaise to the doctor

The woman did notice that something was wrong. She reported an “extremely strange feeling” in her vagina and felt “restless, sweaty and agitated”. She couldn’t sleep because of the symptoms.

She was then examined in the hospital using a speculum, a type of expanding forceps that is inserted into the vagina. Calix was then able to determine quite quickly that it was an insect, in fact a cockroach. The insect was already dead when it was removed.

Cockroach was probably looking for food

It can happen that cockroaches get lost in body openings – but then they are more likely to be found in ears. Presumably they are looking for food there, the insects do not disdain earwax. At least that’s what entomologist Coby Schal said in an interview with National Geographic. Various cases of cockroaches crawling into people’s ear openings have been reported in the past.

Honduran doctors have never heard of a cockroach getting into a woman’s vagina. According to Calix, this is not harmless either. “The animals can damage tissue and cause infections in the body.”
