Hormones during menopause reduce risk of Alzheimer’s

Hormone therapy during menopause slows down cognitive decline. But this does not apply to all women. It is still too early to use this as a therapeutic strategy.

According to current knowledge, regular exercise reduces the risk of developing dementia.

“Finally something positive is being reported about hormones!” That was Petra Stute’s first comment on that recently published study the Universities of Norwich and Edinburgh. Stute is a gynecologist and heads the menopause center at Inselspital Bern. The study found that hormone therapy during menopause is associated with a lower risk of Alzheimer’s.
