How a Carinthian community wants to save its drinking water – Research Special

2023-10-17 07:00:00

It all started when the Carinthian municipality of Neuhaus in the Völkermarkt district carried out a digitalization project together with the state and a subsidiary of the energy supplier Kelag. As part of this, among other things, the existing water meters in individual households were replaced with modern smart meters and connected to a radio network. This made remote reading of individual water meters possible for the first time. In addition, the water level of the three elevated tanks that supply the community with drinking water can now be monitored wirelessly. The project was awarded the A1 Kommunal Digital Award.
