The Apple TV app could get a facelift before the end of the year, on both small and large screens.

In 2016, Apple launched its TV application, “a unique space for accessing series and films and discovering new content“. By the end of the year, it could truly become “unique» according to information from Mark Gurman, journalist for Bloomberg very well informed about Apple’s plans.
A new version of the TV app
Apple has not unveiled a new multimedia box in 2023, the Apple TV 4K of 2022 already being an exemplary model. This would not prevent it from being renewed with a first software update of the Apple TV application, both on tvOS and on iOS and iPadOS.
This new version should bring some aesthetic changes, starting with an interface with a menu on the left part of the screen, like what certain multimedia applications, such as Netflix, can offer. This should make it easier to navigate through the app’s different categories.
The idea would be to make it a single hub dedicated to video content, whether purchased or rented, included in the Apple TV+ subscription or third-party services like Starz, Paramount+ or Amazon Prime.
Behind this change, the Apple TV application would then become the sole entry point for multimedia content. The application dedicated to the purchase and rental of films and series would thus be deleted, as would the dedicated iTunes Store section.
Still according to Mark Gurman, this change would aim to attract more users to this application to invite them to take out subscriptions, and thus consolidate its position in the video streaming market.
A busy end of the year?
While we thought the announcement period was behind us, the end of the year could ultimately be busy for Apple. Between this change, minor updates to iOS 17 and new Macs, the Apple brand actually still has a few tricks up its sleeve to end 2023 with a bang.
