The release of Nikos Michaloliakos has provoked the fierce reaction of the opposition. The opposition parties, with their announcements, open fire on the decision of the judicial council that releases the former leader of the Golden Dawn criminal organization, who was sentenced to 13 years and 6 months in prison, from prison.
The convicted Golden Dawn leader was not in prison, as he has recently been in a rehabilitation center due to health problems he has claimed to have suffered. Nikos Michaloliakos was admitted from Domoko prisons in March 2022 to ICU due to covid and was hospitalized for several days. He was then transferred to a rehabilitation center in Agioi Anargyros from where he now made his way to his home.
The conditional dismissal of the 67-year-old, sentenced to 13 years in prison as the leader of the Nazi formation, from prison, was decided by the Judicial Council of Lamia based on the validity of the Penal Code of 1950, which was sanctioned in the municipality by Presidential Decree 283/1985 and abolished in July 2019. SYRIZA for Michaloliakos: The decision is provocative – We expect the parliament’s immediate review
SYRIZA issued an announcement regarding the decision of the Lamia Criminal Council for Nikos Michaloliakos. As stated, “for SYRIZA it is obvious that the request of Golden Dawn leader Nikos Michaloliakos for his early release should not be accepted, as neither his previous life nor his lack of remorse in prison ensure that he will not commit similar crimes after his release.”
And he continues: “He was convicted as the founder and leader of the criminal organization which, among other things, is responsible for the murder of Pavlos Fyssas, the attempted murder of the Egyptian fisherman Abuzid Ebarak and the attempted murder of PAME members in September 2013.
It should be taken into account that he never made any statement in favor of the Democratic Authorities, while on the contrary he always maintained that his prosecution was political, he did not even recognize the judicial authorities, nor the Democratic Government in Greece.
We are waiting for the relevant decree to see on what grounds the judges came to this provocative decision for the conditional dismissal of Michaloliakos, and of course we await the immediate review of the decree.
Finally, to avoid mistakes and to prevent the speculation that some have made a “profession”, we inform you that the conditional release provision on the basis of which Nikos Michaloliakos applied for release from prison is not related to the amendments to the criminal code of 2019″.
Kasselakis: Kyriakos Mitsotakis is the prime minister during which the Golden Dawn leader was released from prison
Stefanos Kasselakis accuses the government of impunity and embracement of far-right elements, after the release of the convicted leader of the criminal Nazi organization “Golden Dawn”.

By what criteria does the Lamia Criminal Council judge that Michaloliakos, who was convicted of founding a criminal organization, is entitled to be released from prison, when the competent prosecutor emphasizes to the council that Michaloliakos remains unrepentant and therefore does not meet the essential conditions for release?
One thing is certain.
The Mitsotakis government’s embrace of far-right elements, lawlessness, cover-up, and the attempt to manipulate justice, has led to a complete deregulation of the functioning of the Greek justice system.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis is the Prime Minister during which the Golden Dawn leader was released from prison. Its voters will appreciate it properly in the coming European elections.

Marinakis for Kasselakis: Instead of being silent about the omissions of his party, he instrumentalizes the release of Michaloliakos
“Mr. Kasselakis, although every time he sets the bar higher for vulgarity and self-ridicule, he manages to overcome it”, says the deputy minister to the prime minister and government representative, Pavlos Marinakis, in his reply.
“He dared today, instead of being silent about the actions and omissions of his party, to try to use the release of the leader of the criminal organization “Golden Dawn” as a political tool.
Let someone inform him that:
– Decisions are issued by judges and not by governments and parties, since in our Republic there is a separation of powers.
– If in the disputed case the amendments to the Criminal Code by the ND governments could be applied – which his party did not vote for either in principle or in article – the released person would not even be able to apply.
– When the party in which he was elected president was the government, he was looking for a courtroom for 4.5 years to try the case in question.
– SYRIZA was the party that did not vote for the amendments on which the Justice was based and excluded this formation and its offshoots from the parliamentary elections.
– Those who point the finger at us “forgot” to submit a memorandum against these formations, both for the parliamentary elections of 2023 and for the European elections of 2024″, points out Mr. Marinakis.
And he concludes: “For decades they roamed around as the supposed monopoly holders of democratic sensibility and anti-fascist struggles and within a few years reality itself unmasked them. All they have to do is apologize for all of the above, instead of pointing fingers with excessive hypocrisy.”
Androulakis for Golden Dawn: PASOK stood firmly against the Nazi formation since 2011
The Kallithea market was visited on the morning of Maundy Thursday by the President of PASOK-Movement for Change, Nikos Androulakis, and in response to a journalist’s question about the Golden Dawn trial: “I said it yesterday at the martyr site of Kaisariani, PASOK is the only party that has consistently stood against this Nazi formation from 2011 until today, with campaigning and legislative initiatives. After all, it was also seen last week when we submitted a memorandum to the Areopagus to prevent the remnants of Golden Dawn from participating in the European elections.
Obviously, the battle is also political and we must not forget our history. Let those who praise Hitler and neo-Nazism not forget what they serve and what suffering these forces brought to our country. So, memory is a guard so that such neo-Nazi formations do not re-emerge in the place.”
“The Council of Criminals of Lamia, by its will, decided on the conditional dismissal of N. Michaloliakos, who was convicted for founding and directing a criminal organization.
The decision was taken despite the non-fulfillment of the essential conditions, as Nikos Michaloliakos, convicted in the first instance, has shown no trace of remorse and despite the contrary opinion of the competent Prosecutor. It is for these reasons a decision that raises reasonable concerns within the legal community but also more broadly in Greek society as a whole”, Milena Apostolaki, head of K.T.E., said in a statement. New Left: The decision to release Michaloliakos is provocative and unacceptable

“The leader of the criminal organization who was responsible for murders and sexual assaults, as the prosecutor claimed, remains unrepentant in his views and has even written about it,” he notes and concludes:
“Unfortunately, such decisions provoke anger and shake the confidence of the democratic world in the judgment of the Greek Justice.”

It therefore appears that the state applies the law with double standards. Tires for the neo-Nazi murderers, but vengeful for other prisoners”, reports MeRA25 and adds:
“This is a decision that reveals an obvious political stance by the Justice, which as a rule exhausts its strictness on all the other prisoners, but also on the whole society, on demonstrators, anti-fascists, young people.
This decision, therefore, worsens the image of a biased justice, which rightly lacks trust from society, since it immediately releases Michaloliakos from prison and at the same time allows plots to be set up against citizens, accepts interventions and allows the government to cover up crimes like that of Temps or eavesdropping.
It is a decision that proves who is the real enemy of the state and who is its best friend(s).
It is no coincidence that these are happening in a period of reconstruction of far-right gangs that carry out attacks on festivals, on activists, on transgender people in Thessaloniki.
Nor of course that the Mitsotakis government has already started using the pre-election political time to turn a blind eye to its far-right competitors in the right-wing apartment building.
The anti-fascist movement must sound the alarm, so that we do not allow the remnants of the Nazi gang to raise their heads again! The battle against fascism continues, especially now that the historic trial of the ACA is in the second degree, to secure a historic victory for the anti-fascist movement.”
