How the death threats to Sergio Massa’s family were detected

Serious events framed in the electoral process that will culminate with this Sunday’s runoff are being investigated in two separate files. On the one hand, the alleged death threats to the family of the official candidate of Unión por la Patria (UxP), Sergio Massa, and on the other, the suspicions launched by the leader of La Libertad Avanza (LLA), Javier Milei, regarding possible irregularities in the transfer of ballot boxes by the National Gendarmerie, which would generate conditions of electoral fraud. Both issues are the subject of judicial investigations in the Comodoro Py courts and are under the directives of Judge María Romilda Servini.

The intimidation received by Malena Galmarini, Sergio Massa’s wife and an official at the Aysa company, and her two children were reported on November 3. Immediately the Argentine Federal Police (PFA) began an investigation through the Cybercrime Area and the Anti-Terrorist Investigation Unit Department.

Last Friday, raids were carried out in Córdoba, Chaco and Buenos Aires where four people were arrested. Those arrested in our city are Fredy Mauricio Mendoza Michel and Enzo Matías Mena, the latter a native of Colonia Caroya. The Federal Agencies of the Provinces of Córdoba and Chaco (DUOF) collaborated in the Operation and, as reported, managed to seize all the devices used in the maneuver, telephones and computers.

The threats occurred on the social networks of Instagram and Tik Tok. More than 20 profiles continue to be analyzed that would also have published sensitive information related to Massa and her family environment. One of the messages came from the Twitter account @actinotropismo and said: “You fucking idiot, you and Massa’s son of a bitch are going to die.” The same user then expressed: “The people are going to take revenge for what they did to us.”

Galmarini also reported having received an email with warnings addressed to her telling her that they were going to kill her to do “the cleanup that our Nation needs.” In another section, the letter included an attack on all deputies, senators and judges and indicated that the 1976-1982 National Reorganization Process would be reinstated, with verbal slogans referring to the Nazi regime.

Generic suspicions. Judge María Servini also opened another file to investigate the complaints on social networks, speeches and interviews made by the LLA candidate, Javier Milei, regarding possible irregularities in the transfer of ballot boxes by the National Gendarmerie.

In the Federal Prosecutor’s Office with electoral jurisdiction of Ramiro González, LLA’s representative, Santiago Viola, declared last Friday. The first thing he requested in her testimony is that Karina Milei not be summoned to testify because she “does not have any information that she can add, beyond what I can declare on this occasion.”

He then clarified that the document submitted to the Electoral Court “was not a complaint but rather a presentation made with the objective of taking extreme precautions in the transfer of ballot boxes.” And he explained that only comments were taken from social media users. “I want to clarify that we have not denounced the actions of any of the security forces,” he said in his statement, “that we trust that extreme precautions will be taken for November 19 and we hope that the elections will take place normally.”

Karina Milei’s evidence to make the presentation she signed days ago consists of three screenshots of social networks.

Viola was also asked about whether the LLA challenged any results or requested the opening of any ballot boxes in the previous electoral instances, the PASO in August and the general elections in October. The lawyer denied such circumstances. He noted that there was only “one presentation in Formosa about the final scrutiny, where Justice agreed with us.”

Finally, he pointed out that “in the President category, which is a single district, no” challenge was presented. The attorney’s testimony relativized in every way the suspicions of possible irregularities.
