How threatened are we, Mr. Münkler? 2024-03-02 09:51:54

Financial crisis, migration crisis, pandemic, war in Ukraine, inflation, Trump, Middle East conflict: The political scientist Herfried Münkler calls this a “mental overload” of the population and politicians. A conversation about the world order of the future.

SAt the latest, the chaotic withdrawal of Western troops from Afghanistan and Russia’s attack on Ukraine have shown everyone: the old global order is broken, the former world policeman USA is retreating, the hope of change through trade seems to have shattered, as has the hope of economic power replace military forever. But what does that mean for our life in Germany, for the near future? We spoke to Herfried Münkler about this. The emeritus professor of political science is an expert in geopolitics and in his latest book “World in Turmoil” he examined what new order could emerge from the current situation.
