Horizon Forbidden West is full of resources and materials to sell and craft throughout your journey through the Forbidden West. These materials all have their uses – some will let you craft arrows, traps, or workbench upgrades. One of the hardest resources to collect is Machine specific components, here is the best way to farm them.
You will first need to scan the machine with your focus. This will highlight all the components available on the machine. You can then mark the component with Triangle, and it will remain highlighted in pink. You can then use a bow or any weapon with tear damage to shoot directly at the specific component. Attacking stealthily can help you line up the shot and use the focus skill by pressing R3. Some components may require multiple shots.

How do I find machine components?
If you are looking for specific machine components to use in the upgrade, you can create a job in the workshop by pressing Triangle. This will create a job in your journal and a map marker indicating where you can find this machine. You can also get Machine Components as a reward for completing challenges in the Hunting Ground.
You can also view specific machines, their components, strengths and weaknesses in your menu’s machine catalog. This can help you identify where on a machine you can find specific components without having to be near the machine or fear being attacked in the open world.
