FLAC Hi-Res arrived on Tidal after the bankruptcy of the company responsible for creating the MQA format. However, in doing so, Tidal ended up changing its API, preventing third-party applications from accessing the new feature, including the UAPP. Fortunately, the UAPP developers have released a new update in the beta version of the app that brings the new Tidal API. See how to participate in the testing program.

The beta version of the USB Audio Player Pro (UAPP) application has finally gained the ability to play tracks in the “FLAC Hi-Res” format from Tidal, a lossless music streaming service. See the step-by-step guide to participate in the UAPP testing program to obtain this functionality long awaited by Tidal users.
Open the Play Store app and select the search bar at the top of the screen.
Write “USB Audio Player Pro”, select the result that will appear below and finally tap the application tab to open it.
On the “USB Audio Player Pro” application page, select “install”. But if you’ve already done that, just scroll down until you find “Join the beta”.
Select the “Join” button.
Please wait a few minutes for the entry process for the UAPP beta program to complete.
Check for new app updates by going back to the Play Store app home page and selecting your profile picture in the top right corner of the screen.
Tap “Manage apps and devices”.
Select “Update all”.
About or FLAC Hi-Res not Tidal
FLAC “Hi-Res” officially arrived on Tidal on August 2, 2023, the date on which the Windows desktop version of the application gained the new features that allow streaming of the format. With the official launch of the Tidal app update that brings songs in FLAC “Hi-Res” (96 KHz/24-bit or more). The first thing we noticed is the change in the name “Master”, displayed on the track playback screen, to “Max”.
According to Tidal, if the app’s library contains the FLAC Hi-Res version of the album, it will play instead of the MQA version. If only the album in MQA format is available, it will be played. But if neither is available, the source file will be FLAC and will display the “High” badge.
