How To See Next Sunday’s Total Lunar Eclipse – Science – Life

This Sunday, May 15, if the sky is clear, we will be able to observe a Total Lunar Eclipse. The astronomical event will begin its partial phase around 9:32 p.m., which will reach the halfway point at 10:02 p.m. The start of the total phase will be at 10:32 p.m., at which time the Moon will be covered with a reddish tint, and will end at 11:52 p.m., according to the forecast made by the Pasto Observatory, its director, Alberto Quijano Vodniza and that will not have much difference with other cities in Colombia.

To follow this eclipse, which can be seen with the naked eye, some organizations have special programming for astronomy lovers who want to get together to enjoy it.

Guatavita

Booking shared five destinations in the world from where it recommends enjoying the lunar eclipse, among them is a Colombian one: Guatavita. The Tominé Reservoir, located in the municipality of Guatavita, one of the most beautiful towns in Colombia, is the ideal place to see the eclipse since it is a space without light pollution, suitable for appreciating this astronomical phenomenon and enjoying deep contact with nature.

At home

But if you don’t want to follow it from the screen, remember that from anywhere, depending on the cloudiness, you can take a look at the Blood Moon, as this type of eclipse is known because of the reddish hue that the Moon takes on because the Earth gets in the way of the light that reaches it from the Sun. It is a phenomenon that can be seen with the naked eye or with binoculars, you do not need a telescope to not miss it.
