Meta offers to share your bill payment on Messenger as a solution to expense payments between friends. This alternative is called “Split Payments”. This new feature works with the Facebook Messenger app.

Previously, this option was still in the test phase, but already promised significant practicality. In fact, it seems to be ideal for situations where you have to share the amount of a charge with other individuals. It becomes easy to divide, for example, the payment of a refrigerator with your roommates, or the cost of a barbecue party, with your friends.

As a result, the company optimizes collective group payments. The most convincing innovation will probably remain split payment. It works on iOS devices and most Android smartphones in the US. This application will allow you to request a sum through a group chat. You can customize the amounts to be paid, or divide them equally.

Facebook Payments is used with the Facebook application, Messenger. In the case of a first use, the functionality will require the data of your payment (debit or credit card, or PayPal). In its new update, Meta offers the possibility of split payments.

How does payment sharing work?

The development of Facebook Payments by Meta is partially inspired by other applications like Venmo, Block and Splitwise. Using Split Payments is very simple. In messenger, you will have to start by adding all payers in a group chat. Then you’ll tap on the name of the group or click on the “more” box. It’s at the bottom of your screen.

After that, you just need to tap on “Split Payments”. A window named “Get Started”, equivalent to “Start” will appear on your screen. Arrived at this phase, you can now split the amount with the group. You can at this precise moment, exclude one or more people, even your name. Facebook Payments will then automatically and equally distribute the amount to be paid for each.

You can also manually enter other sums if the payment split between the group differs between each member. Many smartphone users already have Messenger to keep in touch with their loved ones or to carry out group activities. Others use it to relay information in a group. Facebook Payments will probably do well on these points.

Split Payments is very convenient for restaurant programs with friends or acquaintances. This feature can also be used to share other loads through Messenger.
