Local San Jose Sharks fans will need a subscription to Hulu or ESPN+ to watch the team’s game against the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night.
The Sharks game is the third of four this season that will be shown exclusively on ESPN+ and Hulu. The final Sharks game that will be shown on the streaming network is Thursday’s date with the Arizona Coyotes at SAP Center.
Tuesday’s game starts at 7:30 (PST). Mike Monaco is doing play-by-play with Cassie Campbell-Pascall as the analyst.
A subscription to ESPN+ costs $10.99 per month.
All other Sharks games this regular season are being telecast on NBC Sports California. Every game can be heard on the online-only Sharks Audio Network. The Sharks’ game on April 4 vs. Los Angeles was originally supposed to be carried on ESPN+, but will now air on NBC Sports California.
This is the first meeting of the regular season between the Sharks (9-19-3) and the Kings (17-6-4), who have won 12 of 14 games away from home so far this season.
Los Angeles has arguably the best group of centermen in the NHL with Anze Kopitar, Pierre-Luc Dubois, and Phillip Danault, and has the stingiest defense in the league, allowing just 2.41 goals per game.
“They may have the best group of centers in the league,” Sharks coach David Quinn said. “They’re big, they’re experienced, they got everything. really. They’ve got some speed with the size and that’s a dangerous combination.
“They play that 1-3-1 and have been pretty committed to it for a long time, and they’re really good at it. They make plays when they can. So no mystery why they’re where they’re at and everybody is talking about them as a serious Stanley Cup contender.”
The Sharks are coming off a 0-2-0 road trip in which they lost to the Arizona Coyotes and Colorado Avalanche.
The Sharks’ goalie will be Kaapo Kahkonen, who is 5-2-1 with a .914 save percentage in his last eight games. Los Angeles is starting David Rittich, who is making his season and Kings’ debut. Rittich, who signed with Los Angeles on July 1 as a free agent, was recalled from the AHL last Friday.
