The Huawei Pura X View is a 6.39-inch non-foldable smartphone featuring an unconventional, passport-like 16:9.5 wide-screen aspect ratio.
The traditional candybar smartphone form factor has largely converged on tall, narrow aspect ratios optimized for vertical scrolling and pocket ergonomics. However, mobile hardware design is shifting. Huawei is challenging that convention. Following a half-announcement, the company officially pulled back the curtain on the Huawei Pura X View via Weibo, introducing a form factor that feels closer to a travel passport than a modern flagship handset.
While the hardware ecosystem remains heavily focused on bleeding-edge foldable form factors like the Mate XT 2 tri-folding phone, the Pura X View carves out an entirely different engineering path. It targets users who want a wider canvas for reading, gaming, and multi-window productivity. Yet, it deliberately avoids the mechanical complexity and cost of a folding screen.
Display Engineering and Hardware Architecture
The physical footprint of the device centers around a 6.39-inch OLED display. It boasts a resolution of 2,232 × 1,320 and a 120Hz refresh rate. To maximize the usable surface area within a compact chassis, Huawei engineered symmetrical 1.05mm bezels. Visual comfort is addressed through high-frequency 2,160Hz pulse-width modulation (PWM) dimming. This significantly reduces flicker at low brightness levels.
Outdoor legibility is pushed to extremes by an eye-searing peak brightness ceiling of up to 6,500 nits. Protecting that expansive glass is a layer of proprietary Kunlun Glass. The display also features native digitizer layers providing full support for the Huawei M-Pen 3 Mini stylus.
Power Density and Internal Performance
Slim consumer electronics typically force compromises in power capacity, but the Pura X View bypasses conventional thermal and spatial limits. Measuring a razor-thin 6.68mm in thickness, the chassis houses a massive 7,000mAh silicon-anode battery. Silicon-anode chemistry allows for significantly higher energy density per cubic millimeter compared to traditional graphite cells. This lets the hardware team squeeze immense capacity into a profile normally reserved for fragile, short-lived ultra-thins.
Powering the device is Huawei’s custom Kirin 9030S processor. The silicon is paired natively with HarmonyOS 7, driving deep system-level optimizations designed to manage thermal dissipation across the wider chassis. When it comes time to replenish that 7,000mAh reservoir, the handset supports 66W wired charging alongside 50W wireless charging protocols.
Imaging, Durability, and Global Availability
Optics and environmental hardening round out the hardware spec sheet. The rear camera module anchors around a high-resolution 200MP main sensor capable of harvesting intricate detail across wide-aspect frames. Meanwhile, physical durability is reinforced by comprehensive IP68 and IP69 certification ratings, guarding the thin enclosure against dust ingress and high-pressure liquid jets.
Despite the advanced engineering choices, acquisition remains restricted. According to the company’s official product disclosures, the Pura X View is currently limited to mainland China. Huawei has not yet announced concrete plans or timelines for an international rollout.
