Huawei's brand new digital and intelligent foundation modernizes the Aviation & Rail Industries

Shanghai (ots/PRNewswire) – In parallel with HUAWEI CONNECT 2023, Huawei’s Aviation & Rail business unit held three global summits specifically targeting the business unit’s niche.

With an enhanced digital and intelligent foundation, Huawei delves deeply into a variety of industry scenarios and advances the intelligent development of aviation and rail transportation through multi-dimensional awareness, ubiquitous connectivity and open platforms.

China West Airport Group (CWAG) chose Huawei to jointly develop a comprehensive intelligent transformation strategy.

According to Lin Bin, deputy general manager of CWAG, his company has developed 35 intelligent solutions in security, operations, services and other areas that leverage Huawei’s high-performance computing power and open intelligent platforms as well as advanced algorithms for the industry.

For airport operations, digital and intelligent ground handling solutions predict the real-time status of flights, passengers and resources and generate timely alerts. The systems also assign handling staff as required. The solutions increase ground handling efficiency by 20% and reduce support time by 17%. In addition, the intelligent solutions for airport operations include the optimal outcome model for the flight schedule to achieve the best match between supply and demand and enable AI-powered operations.

The ever-evolving technologies have brought both challenges and opportunities for digital transformation and intelligent modernization of businesses. Li Junfeng, Vice President of Huawei and CEO of Huawei’s Aviation & Rail Business Unit, delivered an opening speech at the Global Rail Summit. He explained that with the gradual exit of GSM-R from the market, the railway industry needs a next-generation mobile communication system to ensure efficiency and advantageous operation and continue high-quality development. In response, Huawei is thinking about how it can use AI to better support the railway industry, and has developed processes and achieved notable successes.

Huawei worked with Huitie Technology to develop the Smart Railway TFDS Solution, which uses the Pangu Railway Model with three billion parameters. The solution covers all TFDS scenarios and effectively identifies over 430 fault types across 67 vehicle models with a comprehensive fault detection rate of more than 99.3%. It ensures virtually no missed inspections when critical defects occur and triples operational efficiency.
